Welcome to the Regional Officers Pathways

These training paths are designed for regional policymakers and officers who play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing internationalization strategies within their territories. The pathways provide tools and frameworks to enhance the impact of internationalization efforts and to develop effective policies for Vocational Education and Training (VET).

By focusing on creating measurable impact and supporting policy development, these pathways empower regional officers to foster sustainable growth and innovation through education and collaboration.

Each pathway targets a crucial area of action:

  1. Creating Impact on the Internationalization of Territories
  2. Supporting Effective Internationalization Policies in VET

Pathway 1: Creating Impact for the Internationalization of Territories

This pathway equips regional officers with the skills to design and measure impactful internationalization strategies. It consists of three modules:

  • What is Impact? Explore the concept of impact, distinguishing between horizontal and vertical dimensions, and understanding various types of impact in internationalization contexts.
  • Impact as a Building Block. Learn how to integrate impact into the design of internationalization projects and harness it as a fundamental element of strategic planning.
  • How to Measure Impact. Develop methodologies for establishing baselines, defining key performance indicators (KPIs), evaluating outcomes, and effectively sharing results.

Pathway 2: Supporting Effective Internationalization Policies in VET

This pathway focuses on aligning regional policies with European priorities and enhancing the internationalization of VET systems. It includes three modules:

  • Setting the Scene. Understand the role of VET in local development strategies, its connection to smart specialization, and examples of internationalized VET in regional contexts.
  • The European Policy on Internationalization of VET. Gain insights into EU policy instruments, programs, and tools like EQAVET and ECVET, and the European Skills Agenda, and their relevance to VET.
  • Proposing Improvements in Local VET Internationalization. Use SWOT analysis to evaluate regional contexts, contextualize findings, and turn reflections into actionable plans for enhancing VET internationalization.

🌐Internationalisation in education is more than a strategic objective; it is a transformative process that shapes institutions, students, and communities. By fostering cross-cultural exchange, collaborative learning, and global partnerships, internationalisation enriches the academic experience, extends institutional reach, and equips students for success in an interconnected world. Measuring these impacts involves looking beyond statistics to focus on tangible outcomes that highlight the true value of global engagement.

📢This course examines the multifaceted impact of internationalisation, exploring key performance indicators alongside deeper qualitative outcomes such as expanded academic influence, enhanced educational quality, and the cultivation of global citizenship. Through this perspective, participants will discover how internationalisation drives institutional innovation, enriches learning environments, and contributes to societal change, providing them with the tools to assess and maximise its benefits effectively.

💡This course, titled "Support Effective Internationalization Policies in Vocational Education and Training (VET)," offers an in-depth exploration of the internationalization of VET.

💬The course begins by setting the scene in Module 1, where participants assess the relevance of VET within global market trends and local economic strategies.

🗨️ It then transitions to Module 2, which details the European Union's substantial influence on VET through policies, funding, and quality assurance frameworks, highlighting instruments such as Erasmus+ and the European Skills Agenda.

💬The final segment, Module 3, employs a SWOT analysis to critically evaluate and enhance VET internationalization strategies at the regional level. By the end of the course, participants will gain a thorough understanding of VET's role in the European educational landscape, master the EU's policy environment, and be equipped to craft and implement robust internationalization strategies that align with local needs and European directives. This course is tailored for VET providers, policymakers, and educational administrators looking to deepen their strategic approach to developing educational policies with an international perspective.
